These are excellent; well worth the money. In my bigger potted plants, I combine a size small aquameter with a large or medium, so I can monitor soil moisture levels close to the surface, and deeper in the pot. They are great for avoiding root rot in cacti and succulents; just wait a week after the aquameter shows completely dry, then water your cacti and succulents. No root rot. Also, a good early indicator of dryness in plants that want to be damp all the time. I have at least one of these in every potted plant in my apartment, which is a lot of plants; some larger pots have two. I keep these on hand in all sizes, because sometimes even I don’t know when I’ll get a new plant.I set some cores on autoship for six months after my first purchase of these, but they all seem to be functioning normally at month eight for me. I’ll start changing cores when they hit nine months of use. These seem expensive at first glance, and they are, but they’re worth it when you think of how many house plants will thrive (and/or not die) with their water needs properly met for the species. They have saved my plants a lot of times; my cat and plant sitter is a vet tech, her specialty is cats, not plants, and these have helped her keep my mess of houseplants alive when I am away.I will sing praises for these from the rooftops, because they are very well made, they work well, they hold up, and they make my plants easier to deal with, for me who is familiar with each plant, and for my kitty/plant sitter who just knows I’m a crazy plant lady, in addition to being a crazy cat lady.Sustee aquameters are so very worth every penny. I was not compensated in any way for this review, and I received no free products; I am just very pleased with how these have worked for me for the past eight months, and I think people need to know that these aquameters are excellent, fantastic, wonderful fun for plant enthusiasts who occasionally leave the care of their plants in the hands of another person. And just plant people who never leave the house. They’re great for anyone with plants who drink water. These are so well-designed, and if you get creative and combine a small with a large or medium, you can monitor water levels close to the surface and deeper in the pot at the same time. Buy these; you won’t regret it. You’ll probably get hooked like I did, and buy more once you see their magical ability to keep plants happy.
